City of Dalaran Dungeon Guide - WoW Forever

City of Dalaran is a new level 28-33 dungeon set inside the mage city in the Alterac Mountains. It is a familiar name in an earlier era, before the city’s later floating version.

The available data lists nine encounters, but boss names, mechanics and loot are unconfirmed. City of Dalaran has not yet appeared in a playable beta build.

A familiar city in an earlier era

Players may know Dalaran from Wrath of the Lich King, but WoW Forever uses the Classic-era timeline, when the city still stood in the Alterac Mountains. Turning the city into a dungeon gives the setting a different purpose from the later hub.

The current notes also describe the city’s magical barrier as down. The reason and the practical route through the instance are not confirmed.

What is still unknown

The entrance and access requirements are also unconfirmed. Leave time for another dungeon or quest hub rather than relying on a Dalaran run at levels 28-33.

Where It Fits

The 28-33 bracket already overlaps with Gnomeregan and early Scarlet Monastery content. City of Dalaran matters because it adds another group option, but its value will depend on the final loot and travel time.

Until those details are playable, use the leveling guides to plan around the dungeons whose quests and routes are already known.

City of Dalaran FAQs

What level is the City of Dalaran dungeon in WoW Forever?

Blizzard lists the bracket as 28-33. A few outlier sources print 20-35, but Blizzard's number is the one to trust, so plan around 28-33.

How many bosses are in the City of Dalaran?

Nine boss encounters have been counted, which makes it the largest new dungeon announced for WoW Forever so far. As boostroom put it: 'No official boss names have been released.'

Is the City of Dalaran in the WoW Forever beta?

No. As of October 2026 the dungeon has not appeared in any beta build, though datamined instance maps exist.

Where is the City of Dalaran dungeon located?

The dungeon is in the Alterac Mountains, inside the city of Dalaran itself. The city's magical barrier is down in this version of the story.

Is this the same Dalaran from Wrath of the Lich King?

Same city, different era. WoW Forever is set in the Classic timeline, long before Dalaran floats above Crystalsong Forest, and the city has never been a dungeon before. It is a familiar name in an unfamiliar place.
