New players can use Darkspear as an introduction to objective play, then try Alterac Valley when they are ready for a larger team fight. Rated Battle for Gilneas and the Hyjal Crater arena are better approached with a regular group and voice or text communication.
How the current rank track is described
The current site notes use a 14-rank model with milestone rewards. The table shows the milestones currently represented here; it deliberately avoids inventing details for every intermediate rank while the beta is changing.

Honor and Rank Points

Choose a PvP talent build
Start with a build that has a clear job: finish targets, lock down movement, protect a teammate or survive pressure. These are starting points, not final tier-list rankings:
- Mortal Strike PvP — pressure and healing reduction.
- Mutilate PvP — close-range burst and fast target swaps.
- Frost Control — slows, roots and ranged control.
- Subtlety PvP — stealth, setup and crowd control.
- Survival Trapper — ranged pressure and trap utility.
- Holy Shock Hybrid — damage, healing and support.

Beginner battleground strategy
- Read the objective before the match starts and choose where your role helps most.
- Move with at least one teammate instead of taking isolated fights in the middle of the map.
- Use interrupts, dispels, roots, stuns and slows to protect the objective—not only to chase damage.
- Regroup after a loss rather than feeding the enemy team one player at a time.
- Spend Honor when you have a useful upgrade, then keep playing for rank progress and practice.
Rated PvP preparation
Rated play rewards coordination more than a single strong opener. Agree on target calls, defensive cooldowns, crowd-control chains and who handles objectives before the gates open. Bring a build with a defined role, and review your class changes before copying a Classic PvP setup.
