WoW Forever Legacy system: points, trees and perks
Legacy is WoW Forever's account-wide progression system for rewarding the whole journey, including leveling alts, professions, exploration, dungeons, raids and PvP. You earn Legacy Points through Legacy Challenges, then choose perks for each character from the Legacy Trees.
Important beta note: the local data on this page is incomplete. It currently contains 6 Legacy-related entries, not a complete perk database. The system rules below follow Blizzard's current overview; exact perk names, effects, gates and caps can change during beta.
Legacy system in one minute
- Earn points across the account: progress from different characters contributes to the shared Legacy total.
- Spend independently: each character chooses its own Legacy perks, so your main and your alts do not need identical builds.
- Start with 16 points per character: Blizzard says each character can spend up to 16 points at launch.
- Keep completing challenges: the current overview says players can initially earn up to 65 points, with additional progress contributing to a separate Legacy Reward Track.
- Keep talents separate: Legacy perks do not replace the 51-point class talent system. Use the talent calculator for class builds.
How Legacy Points are earned and spent
- Complete Legacy Challenges while playing normally. Blizzard's examples include leveling classes and reaching profession milestones.
- Your account keeps the earned Legacy progress, so multiple characters can contribute to the same total.
- Spend points separately on each character. A profession alt can follow a different path from your main character.
- Use the reward track as the long-term account goal after you reach a character's spending limit.
Legacy is designed to give alts a reason to feel different without forcing every character into the same build. Your first character can focus on general utility, while later characters can specialise around leveling, crafting, PvP or group play.

These are playstyle suggestions, not a permanent ranking. The best tree depends on what that character actually does.

Legacy system FAQs
How does the WoW Forever Legacy system work?
You earn Legacy Points by completing Legacy Challenges across the game. The points are shared across your account, but each character spends its own allocation independently in the Legacy Trees.
How many Legacy Points can I spend?
Blizzard's current overview says each character can spend up to 16 Legacy Points at launch. You can continue completing challenges and initially earn up to 65 points, with additional progress contributing to the Legacy Reward Track.
Do Legacy Points work across all characters?
Legacy Point progress is shared across your account, but the perk choices are made separately for each character. Two alts can spend the same account-earned progress on different Legacy Trees.
Which Legacy Tree should I choose first?
Adventure is a natural starting point for leveling and alt players, Professions suits gathering and crafting characters, and Resourcefulness fits players who value reputation, PvP and practical character utility.
Is the Legacy perk list on this page complete?
No. This page currently contains 6 Legacy-related entries from this site's local beta data. It is a preview, not a complete database of every Legacy Tree perk. Check the Sources and Updates pages as the data expands.
Do Legacy Points replace talent points?
No. Legacy progression is separate from the class talent trees. Plan class talents in the talent calculator and choose Legacy perks independently for each character.
