Engineering Leveling Guide
for WoW Forever (1-300)

Engineering is the toy box profession: explosives, scopes, teleporters, repair bots and gadgets with genuine PvP uses. It eats metal and stone at an alarming rate, so it is a gold sink while leveling, but no other profession changes how you play quite like it.
Beta note: WoW Forever keeps the Classic 1-300 profession structure, the rank gates match Classic (see the table below) and new recipes have been datamined, so details can shift between beta snapshots. The routes below are Classic-tested; check the current recipe before buying materials in bulk.
Engineering skill brackets and ranks
WoW Forever uses the Classic rank gates, so use these. You cannot train the next rank until you meet both the character level and the skill minimum.
| Rank | Skill cap | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | 75 | Character level 5 |
| Journeyman | 150 | Character level 10 and 50 skill |
| Expert | 225 | Character level 20 and 125 skill |
| Artisan | 300 | Character level 35 and 200 skill |
Engineering leveling route: 1 to 300
This is a keep-chain route: earlier crafts become ingredients for later ones, so do not vendor your intermediates. The bracket in parentheses is where each item gets used.

Recipe sources
- Everything to 260 is trainer-taught. Schematic: Thorium Widget comes from Gearcutter Cogspinner in Ironforge or Sovik in Orgrimmar (limited stock, check back). Schematic: Thorium Shells is vendor-sold.
- At 225+ you pick Gnome (gadgets and trinkets) or Goblin (bombs and dynamite). The leveling route is identical either way.
Material notes
- Ore comes from Mining; cloth drops from humanoids; Weak Flux and thread from trade vendors.
- Keep an anvil nearby and a Blacksmith Hammer in your bags: many recipes need an anvil.
Making gold with Engineering
- Thorium Shells are the best hunter ammo and sell constantly. Scopes, grenades and repair bots all move on the Auction House.
- Treat leveling as an investment: Engineering pays back in utility and PvP power, not in leveling profits.
Best professions to pair with Engineering
Mining. You need hundreds of bars and stone; buying it all is the most expensive way to level any profession.

Engineering leveling FAQs
Gnome or Goblin Engineering?
Gnome for gadgets, trinkets and teleporters; Goblin for bombs and explosives. Pick the fantasy you prefer; the leveling route does not change.
Is Engineering expensive to level?
Yes, one of the most expensive. Pair it with Mining and keep every intermediate craft, since the route is designed as a chain.
What do Engineers actually use at 60?
Scopes for hunters, grenades and bombs for PvP, repair bots for raids, teleporters for travel, and jumper cables for dungeon saves.
Can I make gold as an Engineer?
Thorium Shells, scopes and gadgets sell steadily. The profession shines more in utility than raw profit.
