Tailoring Leveling Guide
for WoW Forever (1-300)

Tailoring turns the cloth that drops from humanoids into bags, cloth armor and enchanting materials. It is one of the cheapest professions to level because the materials come from mobs you are already killing, and 16-slot Runecloth Bags stay in demand forever.
Beta note: WoW Forever keeps the Classic 1-300 profession structure, the rank gates match Classic (see the table below) and new recipes have been datamined, so details can shift between beta snapshots. The routes below are Classic-tested; check the current recipe before buying materials in bulk.
Tailoring skill brackets and ranks
WoW Forever uses the Classic rank gates, so use these. You cannot train the next rank until you meet both the character level and the skill minimum.
| Rank | Skill cap | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | 75 | Character level 5 |
| Journeyman | 150 | Character level 10 and 50 skill |
| Expert | 225 | Character level 20 and 125 skill |
| Artisan | 300 | Character level 35 and 200 skill |
Tailoring leveling route: 1 to 300
Make bolts first, then finished goods. The cloth comes from humanoids in level-appropriate zones, so a leveling tailor gathers most of it passively.

Recipe sources
- Almost every recipe is trainer-taught.
- Pattern: Runecloth Bag and Pattern: Runecloth Gloves come from Qia in the Everlook bank building, Winterspring (limited stock, restocks over time). The Mooncloth recipe is sold there too (needs 250 Tailoring).
- Artisan trainer: Daryl Stack in Tarren Mill, Hillsbrad (Horde) or Timothy Worthington on Theramore Isle (Alliance).
Where to farm cloth
- Linen and Wool: Duskwood, Wetlands. Silk: Scarlet Monastery, Arathi Highlands.
- Mageweave: Zul'Farrak. Runecloth: Stratholme undead and Eastern Plaguelands scarlets (200 to 300 cloth per hour in a duo).
Making gold with Tailoring
- Runecloth Bags (16 slots): 20 to 50 gold profit per bag, and everyone needs them.
- Mooncloth (4-day transmute cooldown): 10 to 20 gold each, basically free money.
- Truefaith Vestments (Scarlet Monastery pattern): around 200 gold in healer commissions.
Best professions to pair with Tailoring
Enchanting is the number one partner: disenchant everything you sew for a self-feeding material loop.

Tailoring leveling FAQs
Is Tailoring profitable?
Yes. Bags are the engine: Runecloth Bags sell to every new level 60. Mooncloth is free gold on a cooldown.
Do I need to farm all that cloth myself?
Humanoids drop it while you quest, so a leveling tailor gathers most of it passively. Buy the rest in bulk for the bracket you are pushing.
Tailoring or Leatherworking for a cloth class?
Tailoring. It makes your armor, your bags and your enchanting materials in one profession.
What is Mooncloth?
A 4-day cooldown transmute at 250 skill. The cloth sells well and the cooldown prints gold while you play.
