Hall of Thanes Dungeon Guide - WoW Forever
Hall of Thanes is a new low-level dungeon in WoW Forever, designed for characters around levels 13-18. The dungeon is located beneath Ironforge, inside the halls of Old Ironforge, making it a natural early dungeon for Alliance players.
This guide covers the Hall of Thanes location, entrance, bosses, loot, recommended party setup, and what we currently know from the WoW Forever beta.
Hall of Thanes Overview
Hall of Thanes is one of the new early-game dungeons in WoW Forever. It is aimed at players between level 13 and level 18 and is located directly below Ironforge in Old Ironforge.
For Alliance players, the dungeon fits naturally into the early leveling route through Dun Morogh. Because of its location, Alliance groups can reach Hall of Thanes much more easily than Horde players.
Horde characters can also enter the dungeon, but getting there takes considerably longer from most Horde leveling zones.

Hall of Thanes is located underneath Ironforge, in the Old Ironforge area.
To reach the dungeon, enter High Seat in Ironforge and make your way down into Old Ironforge. The entrance to Hall of Thanes can be found there.
The location makes the dungeon particularly convenient for Alliance players who are leveling through Dun Morogh.
A dungeon map showing the Hall of Thanes layout has also been published by Blizzplanet.
How to Enter Hall of Thanes
Getting to Hall of Thanes is fairly straightforward if you are playing an Alliance character.
Alliance
- Travel to Ironforge.
- Enter the High Seat.
- Head down into Old Ironforge.
- Find the Hall of Thanes dungeon entrance.
- Enter with your party and start the dungeon.
Horde
Horde players can enter Hall of Thanes as well, but the dungeon is not located near the usual early Horde leveling routes. Expect a much longer journey compared with Alliance players.
If you are leveling a Horde character, Ruins of Lordaeron is the more natural dungeon option around this level range.
Hall of Thanes Bosses
Hall of Thanes currently has four bosses, encountered in a fixed order.
The exact boss mechanics have not been fully documented yet, so the information below focuses on the bosses currently confirmed in the beta.
1. Faldrim Anvilmar
Faldrim Anvilmar is the first boss in Hall of Thanes.
He is an Ironforge thane belonging to the Anvilmar line. As the first encounter, he is likely to be one of the earlier tests for a low-level dungeon group.
Detailed combat mechanics are still being documented.
2. Magmatus
Magmatus is the second boss of Hall of Thanes.
The name strongly suggests a fire- or magma-themed encounter, although the exact abilities and mechanics have not yet been confirmed.
More information about the encounter should become available as players test the dungeon further.
3. Plunder
Plunder is the third boss.
Very little is currently known about this encounter beyond the boss name and its position in the dungeon.
The boss is confirmed as part of the Hall of Thanes encounter order, but detailed mechanics are still unknown.
4. Durgen Dirgehammer
Durgen Dirgehammer is the final boss of Hall of Thanes.
He is another thane associated with the hall and represents the final encounter for the dungeon.
Durgen Dirgehammer is also associated with a possible Direhammer Leggings drop, although this particular item drop is currently based on a single source and should be treated as unconfirmed.
Hall of Thanes Loot
The current beta data tracks 13 boss items for Hall of Thanes.
So far, 12 of the 13 items have been seen dropping during beta testing.
All confirmed boss drops currently have blue-quality rarity.
In addition to normal equipment, Hall of Thanes bosses can also drop Blueprint recipes used for camp buffs.
Known Loot Status
- 13 boss items currently tracked
- 12 items confirmed as seen dropping
- Boss equipment is currently Blue quality
- Bosses can also drop Blueprint recipes
- Direhammer Leggings may drop from Durgen Dirgehammer, but this is currently unconfirmed
Because WoW Forever is still in beta, the loot table may change before the November 4, 2026 launch.
Hall of Thanes Recommended Level
Hall of Thanes is designed around the level 13-18 range.
For Alliance players, this makes it a good dungeon to run while progressing through Dun Morogh and the surrounding early-game zones.
You do not necessarily need to be exactly level 13 to enter, but running the dungeon within its intended level range should make the experience much smoother.
Recommended Party for Hall of Thanes
A standard five-player dungeon group is recommended.
A balanced group should include:
- 1 Tank
- 1 Healer
- 3 DPS
Recommended Tank Classes
Warrior and Paladin are suitable tank choices for this level range.
Recommended Healer Classes
Priest and Druid can fill the healer role.
Having a proper tank and healer will make the dungeon considerably easier, especially while the boss mechanics are still being learned.
Hall of Thanes for Leveling
If you are leveling an Alliance character, Hall of Thanes fits naturally into the early Dun Morogh leveling path.
The dungeon's 13-18 level range makes it a useful option for gaining experience, completing dungeon quests, and collecting early upgrades while progressing through the area.
You can combine dungeon runs with your normal leveling route rather than travelling far away from your current zone.
For a complete leveling route, check our WoW Forever leveling guides.
Hall of Thanes vs. Horde Dungeon
Alliance players have Hall of Thanes as a convenient early dungeon near Ironforge.
For Horde players, Ruins of Lordaeron is the more natural alternative.
| Dungeon | Faction Preference | Level Range |
|---|---|---|
| Hall of Thanes | Alliance | 13-18 |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | Horde | 15-20 |
The two dungeons serve a similar purpose in the early leveling experience, although they have different locations, bosses, and loot.
Hall of Thanes Beta Status
Hall of Thanes is still being tested in the WoW Forever beta.
The information currently available includes the dungeon location, four-boss encounter order, current loot observations, and recommended level range. However, detailed boss mechanics and some loot information are still incomplete.
The dungeon may receive balance changes, loot changes, or other adjustments before or after launch.
WoW Forever launches on November 4, 2026.
We will update this Hall of Thanes guide as more information becomes available.
