DPS · Raids and PvP Level 60 · 5 / 23 / 23 · Arcane 5 · Fire 23 · Frost 23

Level 60 experimental Frostfire Mage build combining Ignite, Heating Up and Ice Shards. It explores Fire and Frost interactions around Frostfire Bolt while giving up both trees' deeper cooldowns. Load the level-60 build in the calculator to adjust it for your gear and group.

Level-30 beta Mage Frostfire Hybrid build

Level-30 Fire/Frost precursor · 0 / 16 / 5 · 21 standard talent points. Reviewed 13 October 2026.

Frostfire Bolt is not learned until 40, so the level-30 version uses Fire spells with five Frost points in Elemental Precision. Those Frost points help Fire and Frost spell hit chance now, instead of spending them solely to shorten a secondary Frostbolt cast.

How to play this beta version

  1. Use Fireball as the main safe cast and Pyroblast when a suitable setup or Heating Up opportunity exists.
  2. Use Frostbolt when its slow creates a useful window; this split has no Improved Frostbolt cast-time reduction.
  3. Retain Blink, control and recovery options while testing the Fire foundation; no level-30 rotation uses Frostfire Bolt.

What changes from the 51-point build?

  • Frostfire Bolt itself is unavailable at level 30.
  • This split does not reach Ice Lance, Shatter, Fingers of Frost or Blast Wave.

Use the faster-Frostbolt alternative when repeated kiting casts matter more than the hit support. A focused Fire or Frost build remains a useful comparison because this beta build gives up their deeper milestones.

Why this beta talent split?

Elemental Precision benefits current Fire and Frost spells even before Frostfire Bolt is learned. Improved Frostbolt is the alternative for repeated slow casts. Early Arcane support would instead favor wand or Arcane filler play and give up the same Fire/Frost hit support.

How to play Frostfire Hybrid

Use Frostfire Bolt as the main spell to test the hybrid allocation, and monitor qualifying crits for Heating Up. Spend those stacks on a faster Pyroblast when you have a safe cast window. Ice Lance and Frost Nova offer situational frozen-target attacks, but this allocation has no Fingers of Frost. Check combat logs for how dual-school damage and talent bonuses interact in the current beta; school labels alone do not establish that every bonus stacks.

Why Frostfire Hybrid takes these talents

Ignite and Heating Up provide the Fire investment, while Ice Shards and Piercing Ice provide Frost scaling to evaluate. Heating Up explicitly lists Frostfire Bolt and shortens Pyroblast's cast time. Shatter needs a frozen target, which limits its value on root-immune bosses without Fingers of Frost. This is a theorycrafting starting point, with no tested claim that it outperforms a dedicated Fire or Frost build.
