Hunter Leveling Guide
for WoW Forever (1-60)

Hunter is the fastest and safest leveling class in WoW Forever, by unanimous consensus. Your pet tanks, you deal damage from range, and downtime barely exists. If your goal is reaching 60 quickly, or this is your first character, stop reading class guides and roll a Hunter.
Best Hunter leveling spec
Beast Mastery (21/0/0). Everything goes into making your pet stronger, because your pet is doing half the work. Forever adds Summon Hawk, a new Hunter pet option worth trying while leveling.
Talent picks are beta-testing notes. They will be updated as new builds land.
Hunter key abilities and talents
- Your pet (level 10): the class starts at 10, not 1. Keep your pet's growl on, feed it to keep it happy, and learn which pets hold aggro best. A happy pet deals more damage; an unhappy one abandons you mid-pull.
- Aspect of the Hawk: your leveling aspect. More ranged attack power, always on while solo.
- Concussive Shot and Wing Clip: anything that reaches you gets slowed. Nothing should touch you twice.
- Feign Death: the best panic button in the game. Bad pull? Drop combat, let your pet die heroically, revive it, carry on.
Hunter weapons and gear
Use a ranged weapon with the highest DPS you can find. Gun, bow, or crossbow, whichever has better stats. Keep a melee weapon for the rare moments something reaches you, but that should be rare. Agility is your stat; stamina second. Ammo is a real cost while leveling, so buy in bulk and loot everything to fund it.
Best professions for Hunter
Leatherworking + Skinning keeps you in gear and makes money from every beast you kill. And you will kill a lot of beasts. Engineering is the alternative for players who like bombs and gadgets. Cooking feeds your pet; First Aid patches you up on the rare occasions your pet cannot save you.
Hunter leveling tips
- Send your pet in first, always. Let it build aggro for a few seconds before you open fire.
- Chain-pull. Your downtime is near zero, so keep moving. Standing around is the only way to level slowly as a Hunter.
- Tame a new pet every 10 levels or so. Pet damage scales with level, and an underleveled pet loses aggro.
- Use your tracking to find quest mobs faster. Fewer wasted minutes adds up over 60 levels.
- Dungeons are optional for you, but run each once for the quest XP, and enjoy being the class that never dies on the way there.
Hunter leveling FAQs
Why is Hunter the fastest leveler?
The pet tanks while you DPS from range. No drinking, no eating, no downtime, and Feign Death erases mistakes. No other class combines all of that.
Which pet should I use while leveling?
A tanky pet with good aggro early (boars and bears are classic picks), switching to higher-DPS pets once your gear carries you. Try the new Summon Hawk option too. It is new in Forever and worth testing.
Is Hunter boring to level?
It can feel easy, which some players read as boring. The tradeoff is arriving at 60 fast, rich, and alive.
