Common Paladin talent questions
New to the lingo? A spec is the tree you spend most of your points in. A rank is one level of a talent. DPS means damage-dealing.
How many talent points does a Paladin get?
You get 51 talent points at level 60. Your first point comes at level 10, then one more each level. The planner above counts your points as you click.
How many Paladin talents are in the beta?
50 in the current beta build. They are split across Holy, Protection and Retribution. Each talent is counted once, even if it has more than one rank. Turn on Compare to Classic above to see which talents are new or changed.
What is new for Paladin in WoW Forever?
18 so far. Turn on Compare to Classic above and they are marked purple in the tree. These talents did not exist in Classic.
Which Paladin talents are new in WoW Forever?
Voice of Truth, Reverence, Purifying Power, Infusion of Light, Divine Precision, Consecrated Ground, Light's Vigil, Improved Seal of Fury, Sacred Duty, Swift Judgement, Templar's Bulwark, Iron Creed, Holy Conduit, Sanctified Judgement, Sacred Arbiter, Champion of the Light, Instrument of Law and Twist of Light. These are the new Paladin talents. They did not exist in Classic. The rest are Classic talents, but some have been changed.
Where do I spend my first 5 Paladin points?
Put them in the first row. Only the first row is open at the start. Common picks are Divine Strength and Divine Intellect in Holy; Toughness and Redoubt in Protection; Deflection and Benediction in Retribution. More rows open as you spend points in the tree.
Did Paladin lose any talents during the beta?
Yes, two. Crusade and Improved Holy Strike were both removed in build 70009. Crusade had no direct replacement — Retribution now deals steady damage instead, and Holy Strike was buffed at every rank. Improved Holy Strike was folded into the baseline, since Holy Strike hits harder at every rank and no longer needs the talent.
Which Paladin tree should I start with?
Start with Retribution for solo questing, or choose Holy or Protection if group content is your priority.
Can I play an Undead Paladin?
Yes. Undead Paladins are brand new in Forever. You still start in Tirisfal Glades like any Forsaken, then pick your tree like anyone else.
Holy or Retribution for leveling?
Retribution kills things faster while leveling. Holy waits for dungeons, where groups always need a healer. Respec at 60 if you are going healer.
